AI Mockups for Print on Demand Tees

No more " mockup has the same model"

Welcome to AI for Creatives, today I wanted to let you in on my process of making mockups for my t-shirt design as well as many other uses for a site that does an excellent job at this: Recraft.ai

The site features more than just mockups, yet mockups are something that has been a pain point for me selling on Etsy, Amazon and other sites where they can make quite a difference in sales. Putting your design on a coffee cup depicting someone enjoying some java in the golden hour while the steam rises into the sunrise, is just a bit more appealing than a white mug on a white background.

How to use it?

Recraft makes it pretty easy. Heres a step by step breakdown of the process:

Step-by-Step Summary

  1. Select the Mockup Tool
On the left you’ll find the project panel.
Click ‘Mockup’ from the project panel or click the ‘New mockup’ tool in the toolbar (icon looks like a tshirt) and click anywhere on the canvas.

  2. Generate a Mockup Template
A blank design layer will show on screen.
On the left, describe the mockup base you want to see your design on and hit Recraft. Your mockup template appears with a blank design layer on top.

  3. Create or Drop in a Design

  4. Type a prompt to generate an AI image, upload a design and drop it onto your mockup, or click any image in the gallery to add it to your mockup.

  5. Alternatively, Convert Any Image into a Mockup
You can convert any other image into a mockup base by clicking “Use the selected layer as a mockup image.” Drag it to the mockup base, and it will stretch to fit the surface.

Idea for other uses

Use import to use any photo or image as base and put a tatoo on your neck (a lot less painful this way), or put a logo on a zebra… I haven’t tried this yet. Then bring that image into Runway or one of the many generative video apps would be interesting. The sky is the limit, well, maybe not.

Final Thoughts

I hope this quick tip has inspired you to explore Recraft, esp. for those of you selling print on demand, creating video projects, etc. In the next edition of AI for Creatives, we’ll continue to explore the cutting-edge AI tools that can take your creative work to the next level.

Feel free to share your experiences with mockup apps and techniques or ask questions in the comments section. I’m here to help you navigate this exciting intersection of creativity and technology!

Happy creating!
